NZ Winegrowers to open in Hong Kong
New Zealand Winegrowers are opening an office in Hong Kong on October 29 to target growth markets, especially China.
Based in Auckland, NZW is the national organisation for New Zealand’s grape and wine sector. It currently has some 1,000 grower members and 700 winery members.
Opening a regional office for Asia in Hong Kong is a first for NZW and follows the implementation of the NZW Strategic Plan targeting growth markets such as Greater China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
NZW expects New Zealand wine sales into Asia to exceed US$81 million in 2013 from less than US$16 million in 2005.
NZW’s Hong Kong office will be located at the offices of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise in Wan Chai. Monty James, Marketing Manager for Asia, will manage the Hong Kong office.
The relocation will also facilitate the implementation of NZW levy-funded marketing activities in Asia, particularly the co-investment activities with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise in China, including their High Impact Programme.
