Dragonair to hire crew via job expo

Additional manpower will be needed across the entire industry with the growth of the industry in the region.

Dragonair is welcoming high-calibre jobseekers to find out more about the careers offered by the airline at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Job Expo 2011, being held from 26 to 28 August at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. 

The carrier is also holding walk-in interview sessions for potential cabin crew recruits on 4 and 5 September (Sunday and Monday) at Dragonair House, its headquarters adjacent to the airport.

To arouse interest in aviation-related careers, Dragonair, together with sister airline Cathay Pacific Airways, will have a booth at the HKIA Job Expo with crew members on hand to share their personal work experience as well as offering specific job-hunting tips at one of the Expo’s career talks. 

The aviation industry and HKIA generate substantial economic benefits for Hong Kong and it is estimated that the industry supports some 268,200 direct, indirect and induced jobs, equivalent to around 7.7% of the total working population. With the growth of the industry in the region, additional manpower will be needed across the entire industry.

Dragonair General Manager Inflight Services Cecilia Leung said: “Aviation plays a key role in Hong Kong’s economy and Dragonair fully supports the development of a third runway at HKIA to maintain the city’s status as a leading international aviation hub. A third runway will not only enable us to capture growing aviation demand in the region, but will also boost direct employment opportunities within the industry and in Hong Kong as a whole. 

“At Dragonair we are pleased to invite more talented local people to apply to join our team and better equip us for the growing volume of passengers, increased number of flights and our future business development,” Ms Leung added.

The airline expects to recruit about 300 flight attendants in 2011 to match its growing operational needs.
