Cathay Pacific backs initiatives to boost HK as a global aviation hub

The intermodal transport link between Hong Kong and GBA will strengthen flow of goods and people. 

Cathay Pacific supported the initiatives of the Hong Kong government that will boost the city’s status as a global aviation and logistics hub. 

“Hong Kong has an important role to play in the overall development of the country under the National 14th Five-Year Plan, which notably reinforces the importance of strengthening the Hong Kong international aviation hub,” CEO Augustus Tang said.

The government’s initiatives include the completion of the three-runway system at the Hong Kong International Airport, which the airline expects to “substantially increase” the airport’s overall capacity and competitiveness. 

Cathay Pacific also supports the move to reinforce intermodal transport links between Hong Kong and the rest of the Greater Bay Area. 

“This will further strengthen the flow of people and goods in the region. The growth potential and opportunities presented by the GBA will ensure that both Cathay Pacific and our home hub will be competitive,” he said.
