Cathay Pacific Cargo launches new ultra-tracking system worldwide
Ultra Track offers a near real0time monitoring of cargo shipment.
Cathay Pacific Cargo has launched Ultra Track, which allows customers to monitor shipments near real-time.
Ultra Track is a multi-dimensional tracking system that uses Descartes Core Bluetooth Low Energy Network tags and readers. This offers visibility to Cathay Pacific Cargo customers.
It is also the first Cathay Pacific IoT (internet of things) application that enables remote connection to shipments. It will be introduced in phases in 29 ports across the globe.
“Customers have been demanding increased visibility of their air cargo and the pandemic has made it even more important for high-value and pharmaceutical cold-chain products,” said Scott Sangster, vice president, Global Logistics Service Providers at Descartes.
The tracking system is expected to benefit shipments of pharmaceutical products as well as those that are perishable or vulnerable.
Data that can be monitored by customers include GPS location and temperature, which can be vital in some types of shipment.
“If something happens, like a temperature excursion, the operations control centre can investigate and implement the right actions to put things right,” Frosti Lau, Cathay Pacific General Manager Cargo Service Delivery, said.
“It means that Ultra Track is both a damage-prevention and service-recovery process in one.”
On top of this, Cathay Pacific Cargo also set up a dedicated team of cargo professionals that can instruct staff to take proactive or corrective actions.
