Cathay Pacific to further cut passenger flights until end-March

This is due to the Hong Kong government’s tightened restrictions due to the pandemic.

Cathay Pacific on Thursday said it is further reducing its passenger flight to and from Hong Kong until the end of the first quarter in compliance with the government’s restrictions due to the rising cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus.

“We do not underestimate the impact of these changes and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience to your travel plans,” it said.

Cathay Pacific reminded its passengers to ensure that their contact details are updated in the managing book to receive latest updates on flight status.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam on Wednesday announced that passenger flights from Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be banned for two weeks starting 8 January.

Lam said that many of the imported COVID-19 cases detected recently were from the eight countries.

Cape Verde, Niger, South Sudan will also be added to the Group A specified places or countries at high-risk starting 8 January.
