Cathay Pacific launches Blackberry Playbook airline app
The carrier has already has its app even before BlackBerry PlayBook’s release in Hong Kong from early July.
Cathay Pacific Airways on Thursday announced the launch of a customised airline application for the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet offering users access to a wide range of services including flight booking, check-in and information on the new Business Class product.
“We are pleased to be the first to launch an official airline application for the BlackBerry PlayBook,” said Celine Ho, Marketing Communications Manager of Cathay Pacific. “I’m sure visitors to The Cabin lounge of Cathay Pacific will enjoy the exclusive preview of the exciting features on the BlackBerry PlayBook,” she added.
The BlackBerry PlayBook will go on sale in Hong Kong from early July but passengers visiting Cathay Pacific’s The Cabin lounge at Hong Kong International Airport can get an exclusive preview of the product, with the pre-installation of the Cathay Pacific Mobile application, according to a Cathay Pacific report.
The CX Mobile application for the BlackBerry PlayBook is now available as a free download for users on BlackBerry App World™. The application is currently available in English. Nine additional languages including Chinese will be added to an enhanced version in August. The enhanced content will also include offline city guides, Google maps and downloadable e-coupons for dining and shopping special offers in Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific has been a frontrunner in offering mobile services to its customers. Since the CX Mobile application was launched in April 2009, the reach of the application has been extended to many different mobile platforms.
