Cathay Pacific sets new sustainability goals
The airline aims to decrease cabin waste by 30% by 2030, among others.
Cathay Pacific has set new short-term sustainability targets, including improving its carbon intensity by 12% from the 2019 baseline by 2030.
The airline aims to do this by accelerating the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
In terms of SAF use, Cathay has conducted its first overseas SAF uplift on commercial flights and partnered with organisations to expand its corporate SAF programme.
Meanwhile, the airline is also targeting to reduce passenger-facing single-use plastics (SUP) items to 1.5 pieces per passenger by 2025, compared to around 7.7 pieces in 2019.
In its 2023 sustainability report, Cathay also revealed its goal to decrease cabin waste by 30% by 2030 by selecting more sustainable or recycled materials upstream, whilst channelling used items back for recycling or repurposing.
