Cathay Pacific slashes passenger flights to HK in December
Outbound flights, however, will continue.
Cathay Pacific will cut the number of its passenger flights to Hong Kong in December.
In a statement, the airline said the cancellation of inbound flights was done due to "operational and travel restrictions that remain in place" in Hong Kong.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that Cathay will convert about one-third of their passenger flights to handle cargo.
The airline's 620 scheduled outbound flights in December, on the other hand, will still proceed.
Last week, the airline was also faced with a challenge as more than 100 of its cargo crew went into mandatory quarantine.
The quarantine was ordered after three of their freighter pilots tested positive for COVID-19 in Hong Kong after they operated a cargo flight from Frankfurt.
AFP said the three pilots “were fired after a company investigation concluded there was an unspecified ‘serious breach’ of requirements for the crew during overseas layovers.”
