Dragonair boosts Airbus A320 fleet inflight offerings
Get ready for an upgraded flying experience.
Dragonair has announced the introduction of a suite of new products across its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, in line with its committment to offering passengers a premium travel experience.
According to a release from Dragonair, since early 2013 it has been rolling out a comprehensive upgrade of cabins across its Airbus A330 and A321 fleets. The upgrade includes new First Class, Business Class and Economy Class seats together with a brand-new on-demand inflight entertainment system, StudioKA.
From November 2014, Dragonair will begin the next step in enhancing the passenger experience when it progressively introduces new products on its fleet of 15 A320 aircraft. In addition to installing new Business Class and Economy Class cabins, for the first time a comprehensive inflight entertainment system will be made available on Dragonair’s A320 fleet, offering each passenger access to their own choice of entertainment.
Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Algernon Yau said: “This ongoing upgrade of our inflight products demonstrates Dragonair’s commitment to offering a superior travel experience to all our passengers.
As the rollout of this suite of products extends further across our fleet, journeys will become even more relaxing and enjoyable. These significant product investments underscore our determination to remain a world-class regional carrier.”

Some of the key product enhancements for the Airbus A320 include:
New Inflight Entertainment System: The A320 fleet will be installed with a wireless inflight entertainment streaming solution (Wireless IFE), offering passengers a wide range of exciting entertainment options through the extensive StudioKA library.
Once passengers have downloaded the StudioKA Application to their personal electronic device they can connect to the in-cabin Wi-Fi network, enabling them to access the StudioKA inflight entertainment system and enjoy content that includes 80 Hollywood blockbusters and popular Asian movies, 500-plus Western and Asian TV programmes, music CDs, and 16 radio playlists. In Business Class, passengers will be provided with a tablet device to enjoy an additional selection of new-release and art-house movies, and more than 20 extra drama and comedy TV programmes.
New Business Class: The New Business Class product in Dragonair’s A320 fleet will adopt the same design used for the A330 and A321 fleets. Every aspect of this product has been thoughtfully designed around passengers’ needs, providing a space in which to dine, work, read, rest and be entertained. An iPad will be provided to each Business Class passenger for entertainment purposes. Passengers can access the Wireless IFE library, or enjoy premium content stored within each iPad.
The New A320 Business Class seat offers an extensive recline, extended leg-rest and innovative cradle motion that ensure passengers can relax in comfort. Each seat is encased in a fixed shell ensuring that passengers’ living space is not encroached upon by those seated in front. The ergonomically designed seat articulates into a comfortable “lazy-Z” position that allows passengers to be cradled in the optimum position for relaxation. The design of the seat ensures that ample storage space is available for passengers’ personal baggage and items.
New Economy Class: The new Dragonair A320 Economy Class features a wider seat, increased living space through a streamlined seat profile, and a comfortable four-way movable headrest. The new cabin design offers more overhead bin stowage space and a new LED lighting system.
Using the new Wireless IFE streaming system, every passenger can enjoy a wide selection of inflight entertainment on their mobile phones, tablets, or laptop computers. The new seat features two tablet holders – located on the seat back and on the meal table - for passengers’ viewing pleasure, while the 110V AC power supply will keep laptops and other devices fully charged.
