Cathay Cargo and Air Hong Kong have applauded the airport for its feat.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) emerged as the world's busiest cargo airport in 2023, marking its 13th time at the top in the past 14 years.
Cathay Cargo and Air Hong Kong, long-term partner operators of HKIA, have congratulated the airport on its achievement.
“With its world-leading infrastructure, expertise and capabilities, supported by the increased development of intermodal connectivity within the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong continues to be at the forefront of the global air cargo industry,” Tom Owen, Director for Cathay Cargo said.
Cathay Cargo, the largest cargo operator at HKIA, manages 20 Boeing 747 freighters and transports additional cargo in the bellies of over 190 Cathay Group passenger planes.
“As a cargo operator at HKIA for more than three decades, we are committed to working together with our key clients as well as the Transport and Logistics Bureau, Civil Aviation Department, Airport Authority Hong Kong, the air cargo industry, and all other important stakeholders to continue to grow Hong Kong's air cargo capabilities and further strengthen its position as the world’s busiest air cargo hub,” Clarence Tai, COO of Air Hong Kong, said.
