HKIA grabs 4th spot in world's best airports
Find out which Asian rival claimed top spot.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) took the 4th slot in the World Airports Awards 2013 released this April. This is one spot lower from last year's results.
Meanwhile, Singapore Changi Airport ranked as the best in the world--defeating last year's winner Incheon International Airport who moved to the 2nd slot.
Changi Airport also beat other Asian peers including Beijing Capital International Airport (5th) and Tokyo International Airport (9th). (See Figure 1 for the full list of the top 10 airports result.)
Travellers from over 160 countries take part in the world’s largest, annual airport passenger satisfaction survey, to decide award winners. The World Airport Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence and Quality ranking.
The World Airport Awards are based on 12.1 million survey questionnaires completed by 108 different nationalities of airline customers during the nine month survey period in 2012 and 2013, covering more than 395 airports worldwide.
This established, industry survey is totally Independent, and evaluates traveller experiences across 39 different airport service and product key performance indicators - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate.
