Hong Kong bans inbound flights from over 150 countries until 15 February
This will run from 16 January to 15 February.
Hong Kong has banned the entry of passenger flights from 153 countries and territories until 15 February to control the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
“In order to control the spread of the highly infectious Omicron variant of COVID-19, from 16 January to 15 February 2022, passenger transfer/ transit services via Hong Kong International Airport for any persons who have stayed in Group A specified place(s) in the past 21 days will be suspended,” the Hong Kong International Airport said in a statement.
Hong Kong residents who will be coming from the places classified under Group A are required to undergo 21 days of quarantine and undergo six tests during the compulsory quarantine. They are also required to self-monitor in the next seven days. They are also required to test on the 26th day of arrival at Hong Kong.
Hong Kong has previously banned the inbound flights from Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK, and the US on 8 January, which are all included in the Group A classification.
The government has also tightened the social distancing measures from 7 to 20 January due to the pandemic.
