Hong Kong International Airport flight movements rose 15.5% in March 2011
Flight movements rose to a monthly high of 28,140 and a new single-day record of 971 flight movements was also set on March 31.
According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, the new record broke the previous record made on April 20, 2008.
A total of 4.2 million passengers and 369,000 tonnes of cargo were handled last month. This is up 1.8% and 6.2% respectively.
The rise in passenger traffic was driven mainly by the 6% increase in Hong Kong resident travel.
The rise in cargo tonnage was due to the 7% and 8% increases in exports and transshipments, while imports grew 4%.
