Hong Kong now part of Etihad network
Inaugural Hong Kong to Abu Dhabi flight took place Monday.
The inaugural flight was operated by Air Seychelles and marked the beginning of thrice weekly services between the two destinations.
Etihad Airways added Hong Kong to its global network through a new codeshare with equity alliance partner, Air Seychelles.
Travelers from Hong Kong can now connect seamlessly in Abu Dhabi to 12 destinations in Europe, three destinations in Africa, six in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and three destinations in the Middle East.
The Abu Dhabi to Hong Kong sector is the second leg of Air Seychelles’ new service from Seychelles to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is a strategically important new gateway for business and leisure travel between Asia and the United Arab Emirates, GCC, Africa and island nations in the Indian Ocean.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and CEO, said the codeshare with Air Seychelles allows Etihad Airways to commence services to Hong Kong and extend its reach into Greater China sooner than would have been possible independently.
Etihad Airways is a flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates. The airline operates more than 1,300 flights per week to 86 passenger and cargo destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas, with a fleet of 72 Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
