Hong Kong reduces flight ban sanction to 7 days

The flight ban was shortened from 14 to seven days.

To stop importation of COVID-19 cases, the Hong Kong government cut the penalty on banning entry on non-compliant routes from 14 to seven days.

In a statement, the government said non-compliant routes are flights that carry three or more passengers who tested positive for COVID-19 by arrival test, or one or more passengers that tested positive for COVID-19 by arrival test and one or more non-compliant cases.

The Hong Kong government also announced that starting 1 April, all Hong Kongers who have stayed in overseas places can board flights for Hong Kong under the following boarding quarantine and testing arrangements:

• From 0.00am on April 1 (Hong Kong time), Hong Kong residents who have stayed in any overseas places in the previous 14 days can only board a flight for Hong Kong if they comply with the following conditions. 
• Meanwhile, non-Hong Kong residents will not be allowed to board flights for Hong Kong from any overseas places.

The revised penalty comes after the government lifted the flight ban on Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, Philippines, UK, USA, and Nepal starting next month as the suspension caused anxiety to Hong Kongers stranded overseas.
