New communications system for HKIA
Hong Kong International Airport’s new communications system supports simultaneous analog, digital and Internet-based voice communications.
This hybrid platform is expected to facilitate efficient communications among 6,000 end points located across HKIA office buildings and two customer terminals. It supports the goals of the Hong Kong International Airport Master Plan 2030.
HKIA’s revamped communication system uses Avaya's Aura unified communication systems. The Avaya platform leverages the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) architecture, an open industry standard that supports content and applications across a variety of devices.
It also allows HKIA to deploy both digital phones and analog phones, and to facilitate a smooth migration with minimal impact to users. The communication platform supports HKIA's customer services center. The system is also designed to enable high priority for emergency calls, ensuring these calls are addressed in time.
