Adequate and frequent testing is the cornerstone of effective pandemic response programs by global health authorities. In Hong Kong, a trailblazing startup is at the heart of providing safe and reliable testing for millions of residents.
Prenetics, a global leader in genomics and diagnostic testing, is dedicated to providing valuable and actionable health information. In response to the need for fast and accurate testing, Prenetics launched Project Screen in April 2021 - a community initiative to provide a government-recognised Covid-19 diagnostic solution in Hong Kong and in the UK.
To date, Prenetics has performed more than 5 million PCR laboratory tests, working closely with both the HK and UK governments for community testing.
For the success of the project in the fight against Covid-19, the company was awarded the Healthcare Technology trophy at the recently concluded HKB National Business Awards 2021, presented by Hong Kong Business magazine. The awards programme aims to honour exceptional businesses in Hong Kong and give recognition to their outstanding initiatives.
Danny Yeung, CEO and Co-Founder, Prenetics said, “Prenetics is honoured to receive this prestigious award. We are proud to have made such a big impact and continue to in the fight against Covid-19 in Hong Kong and globally. Our mission as a Company is to continue to provide millions of people with easily accessible health information.”
Worldwide recognition
Prenetics’ efforts are truly global. In the UK, Project Screen enabled the resumption of the English Premier League season as the testing provider for all 20 clubs in May of 2020 and continues to provider regular and frequent testing for its players, coaches and media.
Prenetics was also the first to provide “Test & Fly” screening programmes and set out to resume safe, post-pandemic travelling. Its patent-pending RT-LAMP technology and PCR testing sites have been in effect at various airports, including Hong Kong International Airport, Heathrow Airport T2 and T5, Manchester Airport, Stansted Airport, and Luton Airport.
Prenetics also plays a crucial part in the UK government’s Test to Release scheme. Test to Release is a scheme designated for international travellers arriving in the UK. A private COVID-19 test will be conducted on Day 5 of the mandatory 10-day quarantine. With negative results, self-isolation ends early. This helps tens and hundreds of travellers to shorten the quarantine period and continue with their journey.
Prenetics is a global leader in genomics and diagnostics and genetic testing, dedicated to providing valuable and actionable health information. It empowers individuals with valuable health information. With a simple saliva sample, individuals can discover how their genes affect their diet, drug response, disease, and cancer risks. This information enables people to make health a choice, by living healthier and proactively preventing diseases.
