Hong Kong Disneyland Resort bags Technology Excellence Awards for Media & Entertainment

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's CastApp integrates admin modules and communication channels for staff members.

Hong Kong Business honoured Asia's leading companies in technology innovation during the inaugural Technology Excellence Awards (TEA) last February 27.

The winners were outstanding companies who have made exceptional contributions through the most innovative and unique IT initiatives and solutions that enhanced their company's business in Hong Kong.

Technology companies eligible for the recognition were those that pioneered ground-breaking IT products and solutions as well as tech firms with the most innovative technology initiatives that made an impact to their businesses.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort clinched the Technology Excellence Awards for Media & Entertainment for its CastApp, a staff engagement app that gives its more than 7,000 staff members more effective access to work-related information and tools on any device. CastApp was created out of a need to provide Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's staff with an efficient and convenient way to stay connected, anywhere and at any time, and provide a better solution than traditional internal communication channels such as emails, notice boards and paper forms.

CastApp features a responsive web app design that provides staff members access Hong Kong Disneyland Resort's scheduling systems and HR services, sign up for company activities, and enroll in training courses, amongst others. CastApp also integrates various Disney admin modules using “MyID” login, which are individual work identities that all Disney staff already own. Since its launch, CastApp has proven to be an effective and impactful technology tool for the business. It has greatly enhanced the HR and communication processes, replacing the need for various paper forms and reducing inquiry response times.

The Technology Excellence Awards (TEA), presented by Hong Kong Business, was held on February 27 at the Conrad Hong Kong.

This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Bong Chan, Southern Region Leader (China TMT Industry) of Deloitte China, Jason Yau, Partner (Technology and Management Consulting) of RSM Hong Kong, Douglas Kwan, Partner (Assurance and Advisory Services) of SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited, John Poon, Head of Accounting and Outsourcing Solutions of Mazars Hong Kong, and Jonathan Chu, Partner of Stephenson Harwood.
