Find out who closed the $3.35b deal.
According to a release, the fourth Wan Chai Development Phase II project contract was awarded for works to start on January 31. They are scheduled for completion by mid-2017 to tie in with the Central-Wan Chai Bypass's commissioning the same year.
The works under the $3.35 billion contract mainly comprise land formation and construction of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass in Wan Chai West, the middle ventilation building substructure, a stormwater box culvert, and associated roadworks.
The project will provide land from Wan Chai North to North Point for the bypass’s construction. Upon the project’s completion, the land formed will be developed into a world-class waterfront promenade lining the new Central waterfront for public enjoyment.
The Wan Chai Development Phase II project began at the end of 2009 and is progressing smoothly. The Central-Wan Chai Bypass tunnel works are also being carried out in sections in Wan Chai North, including those in the newly formed land and above the Mass Transit Railway’s Tsuen Wan Line.
