Kwu Tong South draft zoning plan approved

The area for land development covers approximately 525 hectares.

The Chief Executive in Council approved the draft Kwu Tong South Outline Zoning Plan on February 9 which will provide the statutory land use planning framework that will guide the development of the area for a mixture of residential, commercial and agricultural purposes.

According to a press release, the area covers about 525 hectares with agricultural development accounting for the largest land area at 228.88 hectares.

In a breakdown, four sites with a total area of 17.68 hectares are zoned for comprehensive residential developments whilst 37.29 hectares of land are primarily for low-rise, low-density residential developments and 6.54 hectares of land are zoned to improve and upgrade the existing temporary structures within the rural area.

43.9 hectares of land are primarily intended for development of Small Houses by indigenous villagers whilst about 8.56 hectares of land are zoned "Government, Institution or Community", and about 2.43 hectares of land are zoned "Open Space".

37.35 hectares of land are zoned for recreational developments for the use of the general public whilst about 134.26 hectares of land are zoned "Green Belt" to define the limits of urban and suburban development areas, contain urban sprawl and provide passive recreational outlets.
