Gov't, MTRC ink deal for housing at Siu Ho Wan Depot site
The pact will allow construction to commence for 20,000 housing units.
The government signed a deal with the Mass Transit Railway Corporation (MTRC) on the in-situ land exchange to build housing units at the Siu Ho Wan Depot site and the proposed Oyster Bay Station, the development bureau said.
In a statement, the bureau said the pact will allow the construction of over 20,000 private and public housing units.
The depot site, which is over 30 hectares, has a large-scale railway maintenance depot on the Tung Chung Line, with the potential to create about 2,000 housing units, including around 1,000 will be subsidised sale flats.
Aside from public and private housing, a shopping arcade, the government sought to build community facilities and a waterfront promenade there.
The MTRC will also construct Oyster Bay Station, a new railway station on the Tung Chung Line.
