
Hong Kong signs intellectual property cooperation with Mainland
The State Intellectual Property Office and the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government have signed their first agreement to strengthen co-operation in the area of intellectual property.
The Commissioner of the SIPO, Mr Tian Lipu, and the Director of Intellectual Property, Mr Peter Cheung, signed the Agreement on Co-operation in the Area of Intellectual Property on behalf of the SIPO and the IPD respectively.
The agreement fosters exchange and deepening communication between the two places, with a view to working together to promote innovation and economic growth by attaching great importance to intellectual property.
Areas of cooperation in intellectual property covered in the agreement include exchange of information on laws, publicity and education activities as well as automation services; provision of staff training by the SIPO upon the IPD's request; exchange of information and publications of both places; promoting the concepts and trends of intellectual property trading to facilitate the restructuring and upgrading of enterprises; and co-organising exhibitions, seminars, technical exchanges and conferences.
