Hong Kong inks wine trade deal with Argentina
It will facilitate trading, investment promotion and tourism between the two markets.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Co-operation in wine-related businesses with the Chief Executive Officer of the Argentina Investment and Trade Promotion Agency, Mr Juan Pablo Tripodi, in Bueno Aires, Argentina on December 15.
According to a press release, it aims to facilitate cooperation in wine-related trading, investment promotion, education and training, tourism and prevention of counterfeiting.
"Hong Kong and Argentina are long time trading partners, particularly in wine trading. The signing of the MOU today will give impetus to that multifarious relationship. We are confident that Hong Kong is well-positioned to promote appreciation of Argentinean wines and related culinary arts in Asia," said Yau, adding that as Asia’s wine hub, Hong Kong offers a prime business environment and logistics infrastructure for wine businesses to thrive.
