
32% of HK exports to China for outward processing
$377.7bln of Hong Kong's total exports to China were for outward processing, an increase of 26% in the first nine months this year.
Thirty-two per cent of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing in this year’s third quarter. The proportion of domestic exports was 18% and re-exports, 33%.
Meanwhile, 48% of Hong Kong's imports from the Mainland were related to outward processing, according to statistics the Census & Statistics Department released on Monday.
Over the same period, 74% of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland.
In the January-September period, 32% of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing. Among these, 19% were for domestic exports and 32% for re-exports.
Half of Hong Kong's imports from the Mainland were related to outward processing. Over the same period, 73% of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland.
In value terms, $143 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland in this year’s third quarter were for outward processing, representing an increase of 23% over last year’s third quarter.
The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 22% to $1.5 billion, while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 24% to $141.5 billion.
Over the same period, the value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing rose 18% to $201.4 billion, while $227.7 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland - up 38%.
In January to September this year, $377.7 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing, an increase of 26% over the same period last year.
The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 21% to $4.4 billion, whereas that of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 27% to $373.2 billion.
Over the same period, the value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing was up 27% to $561.4 billion. On the other hand, $589.8 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of the Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, a 27% increase.
