
"Asia 4" aggregate export growth climbs to 12.2% y-o-y in September
Amid concerns about the global growth outlook.
It has been noted that oddly, amid concerns about the global growth outlook, Asia ex-Japan's timeliest data on exports – a bellwether of global demand conditions – have strengthened.
According to a research note from Nomura, of the four countries that have released September data, export growth rose from August in China (9.4% y-o-y to 15.1%) and Korea (-0.4% to 6.9%), but fell in Singapore (8.0% to 0.8%) and Taiwan (9.6% to 4.7%).
However, the report noted that in aggregate export growth for the "Asia 4"--China, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore--rose noticeably from 7.7% y-o-y to 12.2%.
