Data from the Hong Kong Companies Registry shows that some 85,000 local companies were newly registered in the first half of 2013 compared to 77,700 in the second half of 2012.
During the first half of this year, the total number of live local companies registered was 1,100,778, up 56,134 from the total for 2012. Of the total for this first half, 16,187 companies incorporated online at the e-Registry.
