Competition Commission lists priority tasks

Staff and Finance & Administration Committees are organized.

Chairperson Anna Wu said interpretation guidelines for the Competition Ordinance and complaint-handling and investigation procedures for the commission are to be ready next year for stakeholder consultation.

She also said the formation of two committees has been endorsed for the body's administration and operations.

The Staff Committee, chaired by Andrew Leung, will be responsible for human resources and recruitment for the commission's executive arm. The Finance & Administration Committee, chaired by Agnes Chan, will handle financial management and administration.

A separate selection board, also chaired by Wu will deal with the recruitment of senior officers, including the Chief Executive Officer.

The commission was established as an independent statutory body to facilitate the implementation of the Competition Ordinance enacted last year.
