
Exports grind to a halt at 0.7% growth in June
The fall comes from a 12.9% expansion in May.
Hong Kong exports registered muted expansion levels after a steady 12.9% growth in May to a measly 0.7% in June as the spectre of the trade war weighs in on the SAR's trade activity, according to the Census & Statistics department.

Export activity to the SAR’s trading partners including Vietnam rose at a significant pace at 20.6% in June. Trade volumes to the US and Japan also rose 6.6% and 2.5% respectively.

The surge in those markets offset the declining trade volumes to India and the Mainland which fell by 21.8% and 0.7% respectively.
Imports volume also rose 1.7% in June. The expansion was led by imports from Korea and Singapore which rose 10.1% and 9.1% respectively.
Import volume from Taiwan, Japan and the Mainland fell by 0.6%, 1.3% and 1.7% respectively.
