
Foreign currency reserves down slightly in April
It decreased by US$3.7 billion to US$291.9 billion at the end of May.
Hong Kong’s official foreign currency reserve assets fell 1% to US$291.9 billion at the end of May from US$295.6 billion in April, a decrease of US$3.7 billion, the Monetary Authority said.
Including unsettled forward contracts, the figures were the same for the same period.
The total foreign currency reserve assets represent more than eight times the currency in circulation or about 54% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
