Gross national income climbs 8.8% YoY to $3.3t in 2023
In real terms, GNI increased by 4.9% YoY.
Hong Kong recorded a $3.3t gross national income (GNI) (+8.8% YoY) in 2023, the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) reported.
GNI is the total income earned by Hong Kong residents from engaging in various economic activities. In real terms, GNI increased by 4.9% YoY.
Meanwhile, the total primary income inflow for the year was $2.05t, or 68.5% of gross domestic product (GDP), whereas the corresponding outflow was $1.8t, or 59.5% of GDP in 2023.
Looking at 4Q23 figures alone, GNI shot up by 11.6% YoY to $849.6b and by 7.5% YoY in real terms.
Value of GNI was larger than GDP by $55b in 4Q23.
