Hong Kong must remain competitive: Zhang Xiaoming
Citizens should do more to attain this aim.
Zhang Xiaoming, Director of Beijing's Liaison Office, called on Hong Kong’s residents to do more to retain the city's competitiveness.
He urged Hong Kong people to work even harder since the city is lagging behind in its innovative development. The World Economic Forum recently ranked Hong Kong's competitiveness as seventh in the world.
Zhang also advised young people to tap into the numerous opportunities provided within the One Country, Two Systems framework. He made these remark during the Boao Youth Forum in Wanchai attended by about 1,000 young professionals and students.
Hong Kong’s Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam said young people are creative and full of energy. She noted they will undoubtedly play a vital role in shaping the region's future.
