Hong Kong ponders lifting of more COVID restrictions

The government wants to further open up Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong government plans to lift more COVID restrictions as it seeks to further open up the city to revive businesses.

“We are working on specific and dedicated plans to ensure major events and economic activities can be held smoothly, to open up Hong Kong - to bring a world of business back to Hong Kong as quickly and as safely as we can,” Chief Executive John Lee said.

Previously, the government has canceled route-specific flight suspension mechanism, whilst introducing the red and amber code arrangement.

It has also stopped the inbound compulsory hotel quarantine.

“We will continue to identify room for lifting restrictions in an orderly and progressive manner,” Lee said at the Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit and FinTech Week.
