
Hong Kong suffers minor shakes from Taiwan quake
Magnitude was estimated at 6.4.
According to a release, an earthquake in Taiwan was felt locally this morning, the Hong Kong Observatory says.
A earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.4 occurred just after 10am today in Taiwan. The epicentre was about 53 kilometres southeast of Taizhong, near 23.8 N, 121E.
The observatory received more than 10 local reports of minor shaking lasting for several seconds.
Initial estimates give a local intensity of three on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale.
