
Hong Kong visitors flock to the Mainland
Hong Kong residents are visiting the Mainland mostly on business and spent some $35.6 billion there in 2011.
The Census & Statistics Department said business travel accounted for 33% of all trips to the Mainland while personal travel constituted 67%.
On average, Hong Kong visitors spent $730 per trip and spent $1,000 for overnight trips and $290 for same-day trips.
The Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics said Hong Kong residents made 72.8 million trips to the Mainland for business and personal purposes in 2011.
