Lam on leave after suffering minor elbow fracture from fall
Chief Secretary for Administration, John Lee, to take over until Lam recovers.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam will be on leave after suffering a minor elbow fracture in a fall at the Government House on 18 October.
In a statement, the government said Chief Secretary for Administration John Lee will serve as Acting Chief Executive while Lam is recovering.
Due to Lam’s accident, the executive council meeting and her media sessions scheduled on 19 October were cancelled.
In a Facebook post, the Chief Executive shared that she fell down the stairs in her official residence right “before dinner.”
Lam attended herself to the hospital where she underwent several examinations, including a brain scan.
A report from Reuters said Lam was already discharged from Queen Mary Hospital on 19 October after staying overnight.
Lam, in the same Facebook post, thanked the medical team of the hospital for taking care of her.
The Chief Executive also vowed to work on measures she stated on her latest Policy ADdress once she recharges.
The Hong Kong leader ended her message by saying her biggest problem now is how to wear clothes and write with an arm cast.
