
Welfare cases fall 0.2% to 260,774 in December

According to a release, the overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance caseload decreased 0.2% month-on-month to 260,774 in December, with a total of 394,907 recipients, the Social Welfare Department announced today.
Unemployment cases and low-earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.4% and 1.2%, to 21,149 and 8,891 cases.
Single-parent cases and permanent-disability cases also dropped 0.5% and 0.2% to 29,193 and 18,391.
Old-age cases remained steady at 151,259.
Ill-health cases increased 0.3% to 25,157.
