Green Tech Fund approves eight projects worth $39m
Local universities and a private enterprise submitted applications.
The Secretariat of the Green Tech Fund (GTF) has approved eight projects in the first round of applications on 5 October. The total grant amounted to around $39m.
The GTF was open for the first round of applications from December 2020 to February 2021. The projects cover a wide range of topics, including the promotion of new energy and renewable energy, promotion of a circular economy and turning waste into resources, low-carbon waste management technologies, and smart air quality monitoring.
The government set up the $200m fund in 2020 to provide better and more focused funding support for research and development projects which can help Hong Kong decarbonise and enhance environmental protection as it strives towards carbon neutrality before 2050.
