Bank of China (Hong Kong) warns of fake website
Customers who logged in the fake website are advised to immediately contact the bank.
Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK) has warned of a new fraudulent website, with address www[.]bochk-cn[.]com.
“The fraudulent website has a login page, which intends to steal customers’ data, such as internet banking number and password. BOCHK declares that it has no connection with the fraudulent website,” the bank said in an official statement.
BOCHK avised customers who logged in and provided their personal information in the fake website to immediately contact its customer hotline (852) 3988 2388 (press 3, # and 2 after language selection).
BOCHK said that the case has been reported to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Police Force.
The bank has also warned of a separate fraudulent website in late 2022.
BOCHK advised customers to directly type in the website address of BOCHK (www.bochk.com) directly into the browser address bar when accessing their internet banking or mobile banking accounts.
The bank also advised customers to download the BOCHK mobile application from official app stores and reliable sources.
“Customers should not access such accounts or provide personal information (including passwords) through hyperlinks, QR codes or attachments embedded in e-mails or on websites,” the bank added.
