Imports of poultry products from Catalonia, Spain gets suspended
Amidst bird flu scare.
According to a report, the Centre for Food Safety has suspended the import of poultry, poultry products and eggs from Catalonia, Spain.
It received notification from the World Organisation for Animal Health today about an outbreak of low-pathogenic H7N1 avian influenza on a poultry farm in the province.
The centre has contacted Spanish authorities and will monitor developments.
About 4,600 tonnes of frozen poultry meat was imported to Hong Kong from Spain last year.
