12,000 jobs, $4b boost: Unpacking Deliveroo impact on Hong Kong’s restaurant industry 

Six in 10 restaurants said the company helped them develop their business.

Capital Economics research revealed that Deliveroo's 2022 Hong Kong operations contributed $4.1b in gross value and supported 12,000 jobs.

The platform has also enabled a third of Hong Kong restaurants to reach more customers, with 13% reporting they found new customers in previously untapped areas.

More than half of restaurants (57%) surveyed by Capital Economics also said Deliveroo helped them develop their business.

Deliveroo’s presence also urged the F&B sector to digitalise, with 49% of the surveyed restaurants reporting they increased digitalisation in their business after partnering with the platform.
