Gov’t inks food products pact
The agreement will cover three major food categories.
Hong Kong signed a cooperation agreement with China on the supervision of safety and facilitation of customs clearance of food products manufactured in Hong Kong exported to the Mainland.
Under this agreement, Hong Kong-manufactured food products that show no abnormality during an on-site inspection but need to be sampled can be released upon completion of sampling without waiting for the results.
The agreement will cover three major food categories: beverages and cold drinks, excluding alcoholic and dairy beverages; biscuits, pastries, and bread; and candies and chocolates.
This collaboration will also promote food trade in the GBA.
The arrangement will be available at the ports under Shenzhen and Gongbei customs and will commence in 1H24.
