Hong Kong food delivery services thrived in 2023: Deliveroo
Those aged 46 to 55 spent the most, with 30% spending HK$2,001 upwards per month
Demand for food delivery services in Hong Kong rose in 2023, according to the latest survey by Deliveroo.
Of the 1,000 Hong Kong consumers polled, two-thirds (66%) said that they used food delivery services more often in 2023 than during the pandemic. Of these, 30% agreed to the statement “strongly.”
Customers are also spending more, with over half of respondents (54%) indicating that they spent more on food delivery services in the past 12 months compared with what they spent during the pandemic, Deliveroo found.
Thousands of dollars spent
Over a third of respondents (34%) spend between HK$1,001 to HK$2,000 per month on food delivery services in 2023.
Those aged 46 to 55 spent the most, with 30% of those belonging to this demographic spending more than HK$2,001 every month.
Pick-up features are also rising in popularity. More than half of respondents (55%) liked that it allowed them to skip lines and enjoy discounts (51%).
In the past 12 months, over a quarter of respondents in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island (27% each) reported an increase in their usage of pick-up services, opting for them 3 to 4 times more frequently per week compared to during the pandemic.
