New H7N9 human cases rise to 9

According to a release, the Centre for Health Protection received notification from Mainland health authorities of nine additional human cases of avian influenza A (H7N9).

The cases are in Zhejiang (six cases), Shanghai (two) and Fujian (one), involving eight men and a woman, aged 31 to 77. Two have died and the rest are in hospital.

The centre will follow up with the Mainland health authorities for more details.

As of 9pm today, a total of 204 H7N9 cases have been confirmed in the Mainland.
