Trace amount of iodine, caesium detected in King's Park

The minute amount of artificial radionuclide Iodine-131 and caesium-137 has been detected in an air sample collected at King's Park.

However, the Hong Kong Observatory says it will not affect public health.

According to the Hong Kong Information Services Department, the activity of Iodine-131 at King’s Park from noon on April 12 to noon on April 13 was 148 micro becquerel per cubic metre. The concentration of caesium-137 in this sample was 0.000030 Bq/m3. The radionuclide was not detected at Yuen Ng Fan during the same period.
