HK visitor arrivals down 97.4% YoY in December
The tourism board attributes this to anti-epidemic measures involving border control.
Visitor arrivals for Hong Kong were down 97.4% year-on-year to reach 91,398 in December.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board attributed this performance to border control measures as a result of the pandemic.
The majority of inbound travellers visited the country due to family visits or out of necessity, with leisure visitors being close to zero.
Of the 65,964 total visitors destined for the mainland in 2021, 6,475 were recorded in December.
Same as for the 25,704 non-mainland visitors, 2,973 being observed in December.
Short-haul visitors for the year totalled 10,629, whilst long-haul tourists were at 9,781. The previous month also saw a total of 1,373 short-haul and 916 long-haul visitors.
