Hong Kong records biggest YoY growth in international arrivals in 2023
It saw a 2495% YoY jump in international arrivals.
Hong Kong saw the biggest year-on-year growth in international arrivals in 2023, Euromonitor International reported.
According to the market research company, Hong Kong had 13.7 million international trips in 2023, a 2495% jump from 2022.
“The city was one of the last major travel destinations to remove COVID-19-related restrictions at the end of 2022, reopening all checkpoints between Hong Kong and mainland China at the beginning of 2023,” Euromonitor commented.
“Hong Kong still has much to gain compared to the globally highest 24 million international incoming trips in 2019. The local government promotes the idea of a cultural hub to meet changing travel demand,” it added.
The uptick in Hong Kong’s international arrivals pushed the city to become one of the world’s top city destinations in 2023, ranking 17th.
