New round of ‘Staycation Delights’ kicks off
The HKTB has started collecting receipts worth at least $800, to redeem hotel discounts.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched the new round of “Staycation Delights,” which grants eligible individuals to redeem discounts in exchange for receipts worth at least $800.
The Spend-to-Redeem “Staycation Delights” programme allows individuals, aged 18 or above, to present receipts from local retail or dining outlets to redeem a $500 discount at a local hotel.
“The first round of the Spend-to-Redeem ‘Staycation Delights’ programme in March successfully stimulated local spending,” HKTB Executive Director Dane Cheng said, noting the average of participants’ actual spending exceeded the minimum required amount by 70%.
He added the new round will ride on the launching of the government’s e-consumption voucher scheme that extends $5,000 worth of vouchers to Hong Kongers to stimulate spending.
“The HKTB is launching a new round of the programme to extend our support to the trade after the summer vacation and continue to drive the consumption chain. Meanwhile, since vaccinations are a key to travel resumption, the HKTB aims to continue to play its part in combating the pandemic through the programme,” he said.
The new round of the programme offers a total of 20,000 quotas for over 140 participating hotels, including star-rated hotels.
Starting 7 September, the public can book an accommodation offer of one night or two consecutive nights, valued at $500 or above, directly with a hotel.
