HK rises to fourth rank in global data centre market report
It improved its rank due to strong connectivity and consistent demand.
Hong Kong improved to fourth place from sixth in the latest Cushman & Wakefield Global Data Center Market Comparison, which evaluates fibre connectivity, power cost, and environmental risk worldwide.
Along with Singapore, Hong Kong was the only city outside of the US to be included in the top 10 overall rankings. In the Asia Pacific region, Hong Kong placed second in the rankings.
The report said Hong Kong’s “strong connectivity, consistent demand, availability of cloud services, and a business-friendly tax structure offset high land prices” helped it to improve its rank.
John Siu, managing director, Hong Kong at Cushman & Wakefield, said they project the data centre segment will grow as technology expands and develops in the market.
