AXA’s new HK student policy may cover up to $2m medical expense
The SmartStudent Overseas policy provides comprehensive protection for students abroad.
AXA Hong Kong and Macau has launched a new student protection policy, “SmartStudent Overseas,” that can grant up to $2m worth of coverage for medical expenses.
The three other highlights of the new policy for students from age 10 to 35 will also grant up to $1.5m for personal accident protection, $300,000 in education fund, and $100,000 in emergency family reunion benefit.
"SmartStudent Overseas" annual premium can be as low as $3,510. From now until 31 October 2021, customers purchasing "SmartStudent Overseas" will be entitled to a 10% instant premium discount on any plan.
“As Hong Kong's largest general insurer, we have enhanced the benefits to an unmatched level in the industry with the highest medical and personal accident coverage,” Kenneth Lai, P&C Distribution Director, AXA Hong Kong and Macau, said.
The medical expense coverage of the policy will include up to $250,000 for follow-up medical treatment in Hong Kong within 90 days of the student's return from abroad. Medical expenses due to a pandemic such as COVID-19 will also be covered.
The $1.5m coverage for accidental death or permanent disablement will also include an additional payout of up to $500,000 if the relevant accident results from riding on a common carrier, kidnap or natural disaster.
AXA’s 24-hour emergency assistance service can help arrange transportation and accommodation for the insured student's family to visit the student overseas. This is if the insured student is hospitalised for more than 5 consecutive days, or in the unfortunate event of the insured student's death.
