Macau gaming overall GGR sinks 38.8% in April to HK$18.6b

There's not much improvement from March decline.

Macau gross gaming revenue (GGR) for April 2015 was HK$18.6 bn, a decline of 38.8% y/y.

According to a research note from Barclays, the data shows not much improvement from the 39.4% y/y decline seen in March and the 36.6% y/y decline in 1Q15.

Meanwhile, Headline mass table revenues (which are distorted by some premium mass reclassification into VIP tables) in April saw a 32% y/y decline to HK$7.19 bn.

The decline is slightly wider than March which saw a 29% y/y decline.

VIP volumes in April were down 52% y/y, slightly better than the 54% y/y decline in March.

April headline hold rate was at 3.80% (vs. 3.71% in March). VIP revenues were down by 44% y/y, similar to the 45% y/y decline of VIP revenues in March.

Slot revenue was down 21% y/y in April, slightly better than the 25% y/y decline in March.

In terms of overall GGR market share in April compared to that of March, Sands and Wynn gained market share, while SJM, Melco and MGM saw lower market share. Galaxy maintained similar market share as in March.
